Our Roots

The Kilgore Family: Founders of Live Oak

Live Oak Field Hockey Club began in 2017 with Kevin and Amy Kilgore and a simple belief: field hockey could be more than a sport—it could be a way to invest in young people, build community, and grow the game in Michigan.

Kevin and Amy share a passion for mentoring students and a love for field hockey. They started Live Oak not simply to create a hockey club, but to give back to their community, minister to athletes, and help grow the field hockey family throughout Michigan. They have accomplished that, and so much more – most importantly, they created deep roots for Live Oak to grow.

From the beginning, Live Oak has been about creating opportunities for athletes to learn the game, develop their skills, build meaningful relationships, and discover where the sport can take them. That foundation continues to shape who we are today.

Jill Dixon

In 2026, Jill Dixon took over as Director of Live Oak Field Hockey Club, bringing with her a lifelong connection to Michigan field hockey and more than a decade of experience coaching, teaching, and developing athletes at the collegiate, high school, and national levels.

Jill’s connection to Live Oak began long before becoming its director. A Michigan native, Jill was a player coached by Amy Kilgore, making her transition into leadership at Live Oak a meaningful continuation of the club’s original vision.

Where We’re Going

While the leadership of Live Oak has evolved, the heart of the club remains the same.

We believe athletes deserve opportunities to learn, compete, grow, and belong. We believe coaches have the opportunity to influence far beyond the field. And we believe the Michigan field hockey community is stronger when we invest in athletes and create pathways for them to stay connected to the game.

Live Oak is proud of its roots and excited about what comes next. Our goal is simple: to grow the game, develop the athlete, and build a field hockey community that lasts well beyond the final whistle.
